Michelle Mapp

Michelle Mapp is an experienced nonprofit executive with more than 20+ years working in the nonprofit and governmental sectors.  Michelle a former nonprofit CEO, interim executive director, and business owner works with mission-driven organizations to help them envision and achieve greater impact and sustainability.  With a background in communications, executive leadership, technology, project management, and consulting, Michelle brings decades of solutions-oriented experience to all her clients.  She is a results and people-oriented leader, deeply understanding the connection of people and organizational culture to the fulfillment of mission.

Through the years, Michelle has worked with a wide range of clients such as the US Department of Agriculture, the International Dyslexia Association Los Angeles Branch, and the Music Man Foundation. She is passionate about helping nonprofits do what they do better.

Most recently, Michelle worked with Envision Consulting providing a variety of services from business development to strategic planning for clients.  Michelle secured new clients, led a project to develop a new grant-making strategy for a foundation, and led a strategic planning initiative for a new organization.

Before Envision, Michelle served as CEO of Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE) from February 2020 to June 2023.  Michelle, as interim CEO and then later as CEO, led the organization through the trials of the COVID-19 pandemic and in conjunction with the Board Chair and other team members, ensured the survival of the organization.  RIE’s survival involved a complete revamping of the organization’s business model and significant change as the organization had previously decided not to conduct any of its training or services online.  The pandemic forced a new paradigm and required a new level of perspective-taking by its members.

Prior to the Pandemic, Michelle had a long career as a consultant, providing consulting, and coaching services to non-profit, government, and small businesses.  As a Vice President at Collaborative Communications Group, an Education sector communications consulting firm.  Michelle led Collaborative’s interactive solutions practice working with clients in using interactive media to effectively reach their goals.

Prior to joining Collaborative, Michelle founded and led two interactive communications consulting firms, Bishop Communications and InkSpot Media.  InkSpot Media, a web design and development firm specialized in providing quality web design to non-profit customers.  Later, working as Bishop Communications, Michelle worked with non-profits and associations providing Internet strategy, project management, multi-vendor facilitation, and general capacity building for clients.  In both enterprises, she built her expertise in identifying, scoping, and managing client needs through project facilitation, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

Michelle has a master’s in business administration from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, an undergraduate degree in political communications from George Washington University, and a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University. Michelle is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute and has served as adjunct faculty for the Corcoran School of Art and Montgomery College in Maryland.

Michelle lives in the Los Angeles area with her family.  On weekends you can often find Michelle hiking in the San Gabriel mountains.
