Maria Ta is an accomplished non-profit executive leader, creatives consultant, and fun-first facilitator. Her experience as an executive has spanned across 4 different organizations over the past 12 years. She began her work as an Assistant Director at the Boys and Girls Club of the Northtowns, helping to establish and manage brand new programs geared towards local teens. Maria then went on to refugee resettlement work as an Americorps VISTA member but continued on her non-profit career trajectory at Ujima Company where she was quickly promoted to Program Director/Co-Executive Director within 2 years.
Since leaving her position at Ujima Company in 2022, Maria launched her own consultancy business, The Ta Collective, where she has flourished as an operations specialist and Interim Executive Director. Highlights of her work include managing a robust portfolio of 30+ community partnerships, growing a 10 year-old non-profit operating budget to nearly $1 million, and managing an $8.5 million capital project. She has successfully led the transition of 3 founder-led arts organizations and has found her passion in interim leadership work through these experiences. She aims to continue to advocate for the interim executive leadership model in the WNY non-profit sector alongside IES partners.
Maria’s specialty is in working with arts and cultural organizations and businesses while she continues to remain open to new opportunities. She has masterfully melded her two worlds of art and management, lending expertise to an ever-developing sector. She holds a degree from Canisius University and continues to work as a theater artist in Buffalo, NY.
