Cheryl Zoll is an experienced CEO and Executive Director known for her transformational leadership in mission-driven organizations. With experience spanning basic needs, healthcare, harm reduction, mental health, legal services, education, and the arts, Cheryl has steered a variety of nonprofits through major transitions—stabilizing finances, developing innovative programs, and championing missions focused on equity and social justice.
Following the founding Executive Director at the Amherst Survival Center, a multi-service agency providing essential health and welfare services to low-income and homeless residents of Western Massachusetts, Cheryl led the transformation of the organization into an award-winning resource for over 4,000 residents. This culminated in a successful $2.5M capital campaign and the construction of a new facility, while preserving the Survival Center’s grassroots ethos. As CEO of Tapestry Health after the departure of its founder, Cheryl spearheaded the evolution of a community organization offering sexual and reproductive healthcare, LGBTQ health services, and harm reduction programs. During her tenure, she strengthened organizational infrastructure and financial systems and facilitated the expansion of services to over 20,000 people annually across fifteen sites in Western MA’s four counties.
Cheryl now runs a consulting practice at Zoll, Zoller, Leuchs and Lake, while staying deeply engaged in her local community. She serves as a Board Trustee for Cooley Dickinson Hospital, a Board Director for the Care Center in Holyoke, MA, and a volunteer facilitator for Communities for Restorative Justice. Her academic credentials include a BA from Harvard University, an MA from Brandeis University, and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Before her non-profit leadership roles, she was a Professor at MIT and has taught at Amherst College, Hampshire College, and the University of Iowa.
