Interim Executive | Operations & Organizational Transformation Leader

Carlos Carrazana is an accomplished interim nonprofit executive known for leading organizations through periods of transformation, stabilization, and growth. Drawing on over three decades of experience in the non profit sector and corporate leadership, Carlos specializes in realigning operations, restructuring finances, strengthening board–management dynamics, and positioning organizations for long-term success.

He has served as COO and Deputy CEO at Save the Children, where he led global operational realignment, spearheaded financial restructuring, and served as board liaison during a major strategic shift, helping reshape the organization’s global vision. Earlier, as COO of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, he modernized global operations and finance while advancing the board’s oversight role and driving progress toward an HIV-free world for women and children.

Interim Executive Leadership
Carlos has successfully led multiple organizations as an interim executive during moments of transition, crisis, and growth.

  • Fos Feminista (International Planned Parenthood Federation – Latin America): Interim COO, overseeing all operations, finance, technology, strategy and social impact investing. Drove an operational redesign, clarified decision-making structures, and aligned board and management around strategic priorities.
  • The Trevor Project: Interim COO, built the operational infrastructure for rapid growth and established the organization’s Mexico office, expanding its international reach and strengthening board-governance systems.
  • League of Conservation Voters (LCV): Interim COO, stabilized operations, aligned programmatic priorities with financial strategy, and strengthened executive–board collaboration during leadership transition.
  • Pact Global: Interim CEO of this $250M global NGO, realigned the senior team, stabilized finances, restored funder confidence, and supported the board in recruiting a permanent CEO.
    Through these roles, Carlos has partnered closely with boards to clarify governance versus management roles, align leadership around mission and vision, and ensure smooth transitions to permanent leadership.

Corporate & Academic Background
Carlos’s earlier corporate expertise includes managing director roles at Deloitte and JPMorgan Chase. He holds a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Bentley University, an MBA in Finance from American University’s Kogod School of Business, and a Master of Public Health from the University of Miami School of Medicine.

He is also a part-time faculty member at Georgetown University, teaching a foundational course on the role of non-profits in public health, and has been recognized with an honorary doctorate from American University.

Board and Advisory Roles
Carlos served on the board of Greenpeace, and currently serves on the board of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the Trevor Project in Mexico, where he chairs the Finance & Investments Committees.
His extensive experience partnering with boards equips him to help organizations strengthen governance, align leadership, and execute mission-driven strategies.
