Maisie Pollard is an accomplished interim and nonprofit executive with more than 25 years of experience helping organizations navigate growth, transition, and complex organizational change. She is known for partnering closely with boards, building high-performing leadership teams, strengthening operations and finances, and creating organizational cultures grounded in transparency, collaboration, and respect.
Most recently, Maisie served as Executive Director of Family ACCESS of Newton, a $4.5 million nonprofit serving children and families through early education, parenting support, and literacy programs. She joined the organization during a period of significant challenge, quickly strengthening leadership, rebuilding fundraising efforts, and engaging the Board. When the Board ultimately determined that ceasing operations was the most responsible path forward, Maisie led the organization through a thoughtful, compassionate, and transparent organizational transition, guiding staff, families, funders, regulators, and community partners while preserving trust, ensuring continuity of care for families, and responsibly stewarding the organization’s assets.
Prior to Family ACCESS, Maisie spent more than two decades at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians, serving as Chief Administrative Officer for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She directed strategy, operations, finance, and administration for a department of approximately 400 employees and a $66.5 million budget. During her tenure, she led major organizational expansion, physician practice growth, international partnerships, and multidisciplinary initiatives that expanded access to care for underserved populations, including LGBTQ+ communities, undocumented immigrants, and survivors of intimate partner violence. Following her tenure at Beth Israel Deaconess, Maisie provided executive consulting services to Harvard Street Neighborhood Health Center, partnering with leadership to strengthen operations and support the development of a new obstetrics and gynecology practice.
Her experience spans academic medicine, community health centers, early childhood education, and family-serving nonprofit organizations, giving her a broad perspective on the operational, financial, and governance challenges facing mission-driven organizations. She has successfully led organizations through periods of growth, transformation, and orderly transition, bringing the same disciplined, mission-centered approach to each stage of an organization’s evolution.
Throughout her career, Maisie has been drawn to organizations facing pivotal moments. She brings particular expertise in executive transitions, organizational assessment, board governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, operational stabilization, fundraising, and change management. Known for her calm, collaborative leadership style, she believes the best organizational outcomes are achieved by building trust quickly, communicating transparently, and aligning boards, leadership teams, and staff around a shared path forward. She quickly establishes clear priorities and helps organizations navigate uncertainty while positioning them for long-term success.
Maisie holds a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Georgetown University. As a member of Interim Executive Solutions (IES), she partners with nonprofit boards and leadership teams to stabilize organizations, guide executive transitions, strengthen operations, and prepare organizations for their next chapter of leadership and impact.
