For over forty-years Tom’s roles have included planning and managing projects for not-forprofit
organizations from concept through completion, collaborating with boards of trustees,
senior management, and outside professionals. These projects have been comprehensive,
complex, and integrated, consisting of strategic planning, campus master planning, long-range
financial planning, workforce planning, construction project planning, financing, and
management, insurance coverage assessments, and campus safety and security assessments.

In completing these types of projects, Tom has appreciated the perspective of the board of
trustees, management, and staff to complete them in an efficient and practical manner.

Tom defines the scopes of these projects accordingly:

  • Strategic Planning – Develop a comprehensive understanding of existing conditions,
    followed by an assessment of shared thinking.
  • Master Planning – Formulation of a short-term and long-term infrastructure plan that
    supports and fosters overall institutional strategies.
  • Long-Range Financial Planning – Develop a long-range projection that is flexible and
    practical for all the institutional decision-makers to use as a tool.
  • Workforce Planning – Assess the existing environment and formulate an action plan
    that addresses best practices, compliance, deployment, good management, and
    development of human resources.
  • Construction Project Planning and Management – Guide the development of a
    comprehensive project strategy, with accompanying budgets, schedules, and processes
    for decision-makers.
  • Insurance Coverage Assessment – Assess existing insurance coverages and as
    necessary, develop and implement practical and effective solutions that will eliminate or
    minimize risk exposures.
  • Camus Safety and Security Assessments – Assess the existing campus safety and
    security umbrella and develop and implement practical remedies.

His guiding principles are:

Over his career Tom has held positions in senior management and public accounting, working
for organizations in the governmental and not-for-profit sectors.

  • Principal – Thomas N. DiConza, CPA; Fitchburg, Ma.
  • Vice President for Administration – Health Plans, Inc.; Worcester, Ma.
  • Audit Team Supervisor – KPMG (formerly KMG Main Hurdman); Worcester, Ma.

In addition, Tom also is a member of the following not-for-profit board of trustees:

  • Vice Chair, Chair: Buildings & Grounds Committee, Member: Finance Committee –Fitchburg Art Museum; Fitchburg, Ma.
  • Board Member – Fitchburg State University Center for Italian Culture

In his personal time, Tom enjoys golfing, hiking, and beaching with his wife of forty-years –
Ellen. Together they have three successful daughters – Kelly, Emily, and Mary; and with three
grandchildren.
