Sadie Bliss is an experienced and effective nonprofit leader and administrator dedicated to nurturing mission-driven, fiscally thriving organizations. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated her commitment to empowering staff, fostering diverse, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming cultures, improving systems, building capacity and creating new opportunities for growth and connection.
Sadie has worked in the nonprofit sector for over twenty years. Most recently, she supported a leadership transition at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts as Interim Director. From 2012 to 2022, she served as Executive Director of the Maine Crafts Association. She has also held leadership roles such as director of artSTRAND, an artist-owned contemporary gallery in Provincetown, and manager of CraftBoston at the Society of Arts and Crafts. She also co-founded and directed Co.7, a gallery, studio, and event space in Portland, Oregon, and has supported public art and other initiatives at the Maine Arts Commission, the Mayor of Boston’s Office of Arts and Boston Center for the Arts.
Her credentials include a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration from Boston University; a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Certificate from Minnesota State University and completion of the Maine Association of Nonprofits’ Leadership Institute for Executive Directors. In addition to her leadership roles, Sadie supports nonprofit organizations through consulting and project-based work.
Sadie has called Munjoy Hill in Portland, Maine home since 2009. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Loc, and their two children, Marvin and Juno. You’ll often find her throughout New England snowboarding, boating, relaxing at the beach, cheering on youth sports or home in Portland, gardening, and out and about supporting the arts, local restaurants and community.
