Since 2001, Joey Gustafson has been the CEO of JM Consulting Inc. (JMC).  JMC provides management consulting for nonprofits, for profits, lenders, developers, philanthropies, K-12 charter, district, and private schools.  Joey specializes in assessing the needs of organizations and crafting solutions in order to yield quality outcomes.  Joey offers tailored services that improve business objectives such as:

Joey has experience in helping teams move from design to execution and then to repeatable quality at scale.  Joey has been a school administrator, a planner, board member, evaluator and has advised in educational public policy. Joey has worked for major funders and developed over 30 strategic plans for growing educational organizations.  Joey offers a wealth of policy and technical knowledge of the educational sector as well as management experience.

Beyond JM Consulting, Joey also currently manages the Amber Education Fund.  This fund raises money, manages investments, and is a real estate holding company for the Amber Charter Schools in New York City.

Joey has worked extensively with urban, suburban, and rural schools. She began her commitment to education by conducting education reform research at the Hudson Institute. Joey worked as a political appointee and Staff Assistant at the Office of National Drug Control Policy at the White House for the George (HW) Bush Sr. Administration. Gustafson was an education policy advisor at the Office of the Mayor in New York City. Joey served as the Assistant Head of School at a charter school (now a network) in Lawrence, Massachusetts.  Joey’s experience includes private sector senior management at ChildrenFirst, Inc., a national leader in corporate back-up child care.  Joey oversaw the operations of the company, expanding from 13 centers to 22 centers across the country with 55K child visits per year, with P&L responsibility as the VP of Operations and later Managing Director.

Joey lives on Cape Ann in Massachusetts with her husband and has two daughters (ages 17 and 20).
