A strategist and visionary leader with two decades in the social impact sector, Viviana Bianchi brings a cross-disciplinary background spanning resource development, partnerships, communications, board development, and nonprofit management. As the former Executive Director of the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) from 2017-2025, she led one of New York City’s most vital cultural institutions in advancing equity, funding, and opportunities for artists and arts organizations across the Bronx.
During her tenure, she stewarded the organization through a period of growth and renewal. Under her leadership, BCA consolidated its programs and public-facing work at its Westchester Square headquarters – now home to the Longwood Art Gallery – expanding access for artists and audiences and deepening BCA’s presence. In 2020, City & State named her to its “Bronx Power 50,” citing her role in guiding BCA’s growth and elevating the organization’s impact.
Before joining BCA, she held leadership positions at Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center, the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), and People for the American Way Foundation. In Argentina, she founded Pegasus Solutions, to support media artists and organizations. Earlier in her career, she oversaw social-justice media grantmaking as Project Director for the Funding Exchange’s Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media.
In addition to her executive leadership, Bianchi has contributed to statewide advocacy and sector-building and serves on the board of Arts NYS, where she supports policy and field-wide initiatives to strengthen arts ecosystems. She also served as panelist and board member for the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, NYS Council on the Arts, the Cultural Affairs Committee of the NYC Mayor’s Office, Hostos College Advisory Council and several others.
A native of Argentina, she brings an international perspective to her work, grounded in a belief that the arts are a public good and a driver of community vitality. Aside from her extensive social sector career, Ms. Bianchi has been involved in culture since her youth as actress, producer, and film festival organizer. She has a master’s degree in Cinema Studies with a Certificate in Culture and Media from NY University/Tisch School of the Arts, and a bachelor’s degree in Theater from the University of Massachusetts.
