Frequently Asked Questions: IED Mentoring Services

What is the focus of your mentoring, advisory and facilitation services?

Our services are designed to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations, their individual leaders, leadership teams and Board members. We work with you to identify specific goals and areas for development. Then we support the individuals or teams through regular interactions during which we observe practice and provide actionable feedback on processes and practices highlighting their impact on the organization. We can also facilitate initiatives such as strategic visioning exercises and SWOT analyses that engage a broad group of stakeholders.

How do you identify candidates that are potentially a good fit for our organization?

An IES Partner will interview prospective clients to get to know your organization and to better understand your goals. We will send you a preliminary assessment to be sure we have captured all relevant information. Once the assessment is approved we will set up an interview with a candidate who might fit your needs.

How do you estimate the cost for the contracted engagement?

We recommend that on-site mentoring be scheduled on a regular basis and we base our mentoring and facilitation fees on anticipated on-site hours. In most cases we do not charge for email or phone consultations that take place between sessions unless the Mentor is given a discrete assignment or the facilitation requires extensive preparation.

Do you charge a management fee or any other fees for overseeing the engagement?

Interim Executive Solutions [IES] charges no placement or management fees to the client.

What is the duration of a mentorship engagement?

There is no prescribed minimum or maximum duration for a mentorship engagement. It can continue as long as it is delivering value to our client and can be terminated at any time.

What is the contracting process?  Does our organization sign a contract with IES and/or with the Mentor?

Your organization will enter into a consulting agreement with IES that will specify the scope and goals of the assignment along with any parameters such as anticipated hours, pay rate, deliverables, payment schedule etc. IES typically bills monthly based on actual hours of service.

Can you provide other services during this engagement?

IES has many highly qualified specialists who are available for short consultations when appropriate. We also have a broad network of capable professionals and partner organizations we can recommend for other services, all with no finder’s fee to your organization.
