Tom Keane is a lawyer, senior executive, journalist, and former politician.
Tom has served as a board member, general counsel, executive vice president, and chief financial officer of a number of venture-backed for-profit companies as well as a board member, executive director, general counsel, chief strategy officer, and chief financial officer of several nonprofit organizations. He is deeply knowledgeable in a number of fields, including healthcare, media, education, architecture, urban planning, and city and regional public policy and finance.
Tom’s most recent senior management role was as a member of Executive Team of AppleTree Institute, a $36 million Washington, DC, nonprofit that develops and provides early-education programs to largely disadvantaged three- and four-year-olds.
Tom is also a journalist. Over the last two decades, he has written over 1,000 opinion columns for the Boston Herald, the Boston Globe, the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, and other media covering a wide variety of topics. Tom was also an elected official in Boston, serving three terms as a Boston City Councilor.
Tom received his BA magna cum laude from Harvard University and his JD from the University of Virginia Law School. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
