Rick Hurley

Rick Hurley has devoted his career to improving the lives of people by serving in various capacities in the nonprofit sector for over 30 years.

Rick has served as a fundraiser in four different organizations in three states where he has raised over $25 million dollars. He has also served an executive director for nonprofits in two states: a United Way that raises funding and grant funds for education, health, and economic self-sufficiency; a local non-profit that helps people get and keep jobs; and a statewide nonprofit that helps people who are victims of crime. He has also successfully led the merger of three nonprofits.

Most recently Rick completed a multi-year contract serving as the executive director for a statewide association for museum professionals and volunteers. There he relaunched the statewide conference, rebuilt a team of staff and volunteers, and led the association’s advocacy efforts in congress and the state legislature.

In his work as a consultant, Rick has helped nonprofits solve problems creatively and accomplish their revenue goals. By helping nonprofits align their strategic, operational, and program goals, and stay on their “true north”, he has also helped nonprofits accomplish their missions.
His areas of expertise include Board Recruitment and Development, Strategic Planning and Strategic Alliances, Staff and Volunteer Management, Budget and Program Management, Fundraising, Endowment Management, Needs and Resource Assessment, Outcomes Measurement, Media Relations, Public Speaking and Training.

Rick and his wife Anita reside in Richmond VA. They enjoy hiking, and visiting museums, zoos, and aquariums. They both hold 2nd degree blackbelts in Goju-Ryu karate.
